HUMANE EDUCATION PROGRAMS

The OCHS Humane Education Committee has two programs tailored toward elementary school children.

Responsible Pet Care

teaches the basics of caring for and interacting with pets. It can be presented to an individual class or in a large group setting and can last from 30 to 45 minutes.  Humane Society volunteers dress up as Porky and Buddy, the OCHS cat and dog mascots, and bring whatever props and handouts are appropriate.  For more information call the office at 207-1070.

Be Safe with Your Best Friend

teaches children how to interact with their own dogs and strange dogs to minimize danger and promote healty loving relationships with pets.  It can be presented to an individual class or in a large group setting and can last from 30 to 45 minutes.  For more information, call the office at 201-1070.

Be Safe with Your Best Friend is also available as a coloring book which can be requested for use in classrooms, children's groups, or by parents. Call the office at 207-1070 to request a copy or you can download a copy here.
